Google Maps shows Google’s real priorities

Run Google Maps on Android. Try to set it up so it doesn’t transmit your search history to Google, but so that it still stores search history locally for your own use.

It’s not possible. Because Google doesn’t want it to be possible. They’d rather give you no history, not even local history, with a little popup every time you do a search that says “You’re not getting any search history, because you decided to opt out of sharing every single thing with us. Would you like to enable it?”

It’s all gone off the rails.
